20" consists of 9 gauge on outside, and 11 gauge on inside ring. 
72" is a triple ring and consists of 3/8" rod.

Ring size is measured from outside to outside.  Space width is the distance between the two rings. Remember the number of pins or spacers on each ring is what gives your wreath the strength to hold up the weight of the boughs and still retain the circular shape.
